Changing benefits in a post-COVID workforce look exceedingly different than those traditionally seen in years past.
Changing Business Landscape
For starters, let’s take a look at medical benefits. These benefits have been a staple to the workforce offerings for years. But as the business landscape changes, namely to the at-home workforce, these benefits are also changing. Before, when everyone worked in the same office, in the same local, it was easy to pick one medical insurance company and offer it to everyone in the company. Today, companies have the added tension of dealing with employees who live locally and outside the state and country with employees currently working from home.
Take into Consideration
The first concern is with local leave laws. These need to be examined wherever your employees reside.
Another concern is doctor availability. Certain insurance companies have in-network and out-of-network doctors. If your employees have to travel far distances to see a doctor in-network, consider offering insurance plans for these specific employees based on their location.
Is it time to update medical benefits?
If your employees face issues with company medical benefits, it may be time to examine your company's medical benefits and a possible overhaul to make sure your employees feel cared for when a crisis or medical issue arises.
